Have a bad day? So you go for a walk and turn yourself around. Sound simple doesn't it. Anyone suffering from depression knows that there are days that are bad. Sometimes taking a walk in solitude allows the subconscious mind to revitalize itself. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise there is. All nerves in the body pass through the neck area. So when you get up, stretch and walk you are exercising all your nerves. Thereby release strain that may be on nerves therefore causing part of your depression. It allows you to change your course and go in a different direction which allows freedom of flow in the body. The brain can function more efficiently and therefore the rest of the body can be more effective.
If you were traveling on a trip and took a wrong turn, would it not be in your best interest to turn yourself around. Until you turn around and change direction, you won't be able too reach your destination. It's the same with our bodies.
The nerves are the roadway or highway that passes messages from the brain to the rest of our body. If there is a road block along the way, everything gets blocked and backed up. It doesn't take long before the body starts sending the brain signals that something is wrong. It doesn't know what it is so depression sets in. Therefore when you go for a walk, it starts a chain reaction of changing direction and unblocking the blocker. Doesn't that make sense?
The important thing is that you turn yourself around so you can enjoy the sweetness of solitude, tranquility, peace and joy. Together we can make a difference in understanding depression.
Having drunk the sweetness of solitude and also the sweetness of tranquility, one becomes free from fear and wrongdoing while drinking the sweetness of the joy of truth.-Sutta Nipata
